SUPPORT GROUPS FOR CAREGIVERS
of loved ones with dementia
These monthly meetings are confidential and collaborative. Facilitators are fellow caregivers. We encourage members to be open in sharing their needs and asking for help. Each person in the group has personal needs and experiences that can be shared to the benefit of others. You will learn from other caregivers what works in the many changing challenges that dementia caregiving presents. And others in your group will benefit from your experience. Experience is expertise.
The primary focus is hearing details of each group member’s unique challenges and finding ways to mitigate those challenges. The support group offers a safe place to share all emotions and fears that only others in the same situation can understand. We also provide opportunities to learn more about dementia and share resources that are available for caregivers.
We want to “walk each other home” on the long journey of dementia. We are truly in this together as a Circle of Friends. Together we can do this.
